Yupski, yupski, yupski (that's "yup" in Russian for the Uninitiated)!
Good article by Shawn, and I'm glad to see we have media that are on top of the shenanigans of old Pootie-Poot. Iran is the next emerging threat, and Putin is making deals right and left with its old allies, including the Chinese, anyone that will allow him to work against America's interests and pose himself as a rival power (or at least a dangerous and pesky one).

Probably the way that Iran will be dealt with is via supporting indigenous freedom movements and covertly fomenting an overthrow of the mullahs. The Iranians hate the mullahs and like America. The young people despise the Muslim laws and many despise Islam. An Iranian who called into a radio show I was listening to recently, said that Iranians are not Arabs, their language is Persian and not Arabic, and they feel that Islam was imposed on them, and since the overthrow of the Shah and the accession of Islamic fundamentalism (thanks for nothing, Jimmy Carter) they would like nothing more than to have a chance to throw off the burka. Already there is a big news story on Fox news (I should try to post it) that the Congress has authorized or will author a bill to support freedom activists inside Iran. That's the most safe and realistic way of dealing with this situation. Then we take on Assad of Syria -- and then -- North Korea - if it hasn't imploded by then. There are even reports trickling out of there that unrest is beginning to spread, even in that repressed hellhole. Freedom is trickling in throught the cracks of despotism everywhere (hey -- I should use that on my blog!!)

Keep up the good work -- Aussiegirl

Your point about how to deal with Iran is right on the money, Aussiegirl! I don`t understand why we haven`t been building a ``Contra`` movement in Iran; it would grow like wildfire (post global warming style, of course!) and would solve our insurrection problem in Iraq at the same time. Iran is the touchstone of doomsday; if they develope serious WMD`s they assuredly will pass them to terrorists, or launch them on Russian supplied missiles. Iran has GOT to be dealt with! I hope the Bush administration is engaged in black ops there, and not just sitting on their thumbs (as they appear to be).
